Summer is here but we are fortunate to have great water for catching fish!
Little Red River Report 6.24.25
Early mornings have been very productive for chasing brown trout. Throwing streamers against the bank and in the shade can be very productive. Yellow Deep Frys have been my go to fly the last couple of weeks. Everything is eating and chasing yellow.
You can find early morning midge hatches with other mayflies coming off and getting better later in the afternoon.
Tying on mayfly emerger to a midge can be very productive. This time of year we are seeing midges, tricos, sulfurs, blue-winged olives, and hexes. Paying attention to the current hatch will lead to success.
As the day progresses and heats up you will find fish more often in the quicker moving water of the shoals and the pools below and above. Target shade lines and structure.
For those that are wanting to hunt brown trout streamer fishing and hoppers can be really fun right now.
It is getting hot out there so proper handling of the fish is extremely important. These fish are very sensitive to the heat this time of year and need to be kept in the water as much as possible.
I hope everyone enjoys their days on the water and if you are looking to book a guided day on the water give us a call!
